What it is

This is the base everything else rests on. A deep facial cleanse removes what cleansing at home cannot reach: dead cells, makeup residue and the contents of the pores. On clean skin, any active you apply afterwards works better; on saturated skin, most of it stays on the surface.

The hydrafacial version works by suction and with water-based solutions: it cleanses, exfoliates and extracts in the same movement, and hydrates at the same time. It is far gentler than a long manual extraction, which is why it is well tolerated even on sensitive skin.

And it is the honest way in: if you do not know where to start, you start here, we see how your skin responds, and everything else is decided from there.

Who it is for

  • Blackheads, blocked pores and congested skin
  • Dull skin that looks tired
  • Oily or combination skin that needs order
  • Dehydrated skin, even when it is oily
  • Before an event, to leave looking well
  • As a first appointment, to see what your skin is really like

Better to wait, or to check first, if…

  • Severe inflammatory acne in a flare: a dermatologist assesses that first
  • Rosacea or dermatitis in a flare, active herpes, impetigo or wounds on the face
  • Recent sunburn
  • Recent medical peel, laser or facial surgery without discharge
  • Current or recent isotretinoin
  • Known allergy to any of the actives: tell us beforehand
  • Lesions or moles that have changed: we do not work over them and you are referred to a dermatologist
  • Ongoing cancer treatment: we check with your team first and adapt the session
  • Anticoagulant treatment: extraction is limited or ruled out
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: not a barrier to the cleanse, but say so, because it decides the actives

Sensitive skin is not a contraindication, it is a reason to adjust the session. A gentle version can be done.

The session, step by step

  1. 01

    Reading the skin

We look at your skin in good light and ask about your real routine, not the ideal one. That is what the session is built on.

  2. 02

    Makeup removal and cleanse

A double cleanse before anything else is done.

  3. 03

    Exfoliation

The surface layer is thinned so extraction is easier and less aggressive.

  4. 04

    Extraction

By suction and, where needed, manual and very measured. A pore that does not want to come out is not forced: that is what leaves marks.

  5. 05

    Actives and hydration

The actives your skin asks for are applied and it is hydrated thoroughly.

  6. 06

    Finish and protection

Closing massage, sun protection and the aftercare for home.

What it feels like

The suction part feels like a tickling pull, and manual extraction, when it is needed, is uncomfortable in moments. The rest is pleasant. Most people fall asleep at some point.

Before and after

Before you come

  • Come without makeup if you can, though it is not essential
  • No retinol or strong acids in the days before
  • Avoid facial waxing on the same day
  • If you have an event, do not leave it to the last minute: better with some margin

After the session

  • There may be redness, especially if there has been extraction: it settles on its own
  • No makeup for the following hours
  • Sun protection and no direct sun that day
  • Avoid the sauna, the pool and intense exercise the same day
  • Do not introduce new actives or exfoliants in the following days

When you see it

You leave with clean, hydrated, luminous skin the same day. If there has been a lot of extraction, the redness takes a little while to drop and the skin looks even better the next day.

What it does not do

  • It does not cure acne: it supports it. Active acne is treated by a doctor
  • It does not remove pigmentation or scars
  • It does not tighten or rejuvenate: it cleans and prepares
  • It does not replace your routine at home. If you do nothing at home, it shows
